Executive AI Workshop for Healthcare Leaders
Part 1: What is AI and Why Do We Care?
Artificial intelligence is transforming every facet of healthcare—from patient access to clinical decision-making. But without strategic oversight, AI introduces risk and confusion. This executive workshop, developed and led by Barry P. Chaiken, MD, equips healthcare leaders with the insight, tools, and frameworks to lead AI initiatives with confidence, responsibility, and results. This workshop draws from the insights in Dr. Chaiken’s book, Future Healthcare 2050, and his widely acclaimed keynote presentations on AI and healthcare transformation.
In this session, attendees will:
- Review the basics of AI and its relevance to various industries
- Explore the importance of training data in AI development
- Understand the need to test AI output for accuracy and reliability
- Identify how to mitigate potential biases in AI systems
- Review AI disinformation and its dangers
- Explore the trust-distrust balance in AI
- Learn the importance of optimizing workflow and process design for the effective use of AI by staff
- Discover the potential for continuous improvement of AI models by incorporating real-world data
Part 2: Intro to Using AI
To effectively utilize AI, users must create effective prompts that direct and constrain the AI model to focus on delivering the most relevant results. The importance of subject matter expertise cannot be overemphasized, and it makes all the difference between AI providing unique results and generalized output that avoids including disinformation. In this session, attendees will:
- Learn how to prompt AI
- Identify proper formatting of prompts
- Review the value of delivering clear and specific prompts
- Understand the importance of providing sufficient context and examples in prompts
- Learn how to select and upload high-quality, relevant data for the AI to utilize
- Discover the importance of applying their subject matter expertise in prompts
Part 3: Hands-on Workshop Using AI to Provide Solutions
In this immersive session, groups work hands-on with the latest AI tool to explore and develop solutions for their chosen topics. Each group collaborates to create prompts, upload relevant data, and interact with the AI system to generate insights, ideas, or solutions for their selected problem or use case.
As they engage with the AI tool, participants gain practical experience applying the concepts and best practices introduced in the previous session, such as crafting clear and specific prompts, providing appropriate context, and refining their approach based on the AI’s responses. Throughout this hands-on work, groups are encouraged to think critically about the AI’s outputs, consider the implications of their findings, and discuss potential ways to implement or build upon the insights gained.
Part 4: Presentation of Each Group’s Results
Attendees gain exposure to various use cases and approaches to leveraging AI through these presentations. The session aims to foster a sense of accomplishment among participants by demonstrating their ability to collaborate effectively with AI to solve problems and generate valuable insights. This collaborative aspect is key to the successful integration of AI in any industry.
By the end of these sessions, attendees will have a deeper understanding of AI’s practical applications, the importance of effective, prompt design, and the potential for AI to drive innovation and solve real-world challenges across various industries. The role of AI in driving innovation is not just a possibility, but a reality that we can all be part of.
